Paeff was born in Minsk, Russia and moved to to the United States when she was quite young. Her family settled in the North End of Boston and Paeff attended The Massachusetts Normal Art School, (Massachusetts College of Art) and The Museum School studying under Cyrus Dallin and Bela Pratt. While studying she won numerous prizes and scholarships and was monikered the "Subway Sculptress by the Boston Globe for whimsical sketches that she did while supporting her studies.
Her works are included in the collections of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, Harvard University, Dartmouth College and Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. A second fountain figure sculpted by Paeff is in the Boston Public Gardens, Arlington Street, Boston, Mass.
